TEAM PICTURES

TEAM PICTURES: Monday 5, 2008
  • MEET AT THE TRACK 3pm
  • BE IN UNIFORM...do not ask me for one the day of pictures, I'm all out.
  • Quit the team BEFORE pictures, not after.

29 APRIL 2008

PRACTICE: Today's practice is only for our five girls in the 3200m relay, the five girls in the 400m relay and Allison Hynes. If anyone else wants to show up, be my guest. Plan on working hard.

28 APRIL 2008

PRACTICE: We have the gym today. Plan on being indoors unless it warms up--and dries up. We will do some jogging, drills, and then head for some event specific drills.

TOMORROW: I will be here for a voluntary (for most) practice tomorow at 3:15pm. The practice will be mandatory for our 400m and 3200m relayteams.

CANISTEO: I had origianlly planned on going to the Canisteo-Greenwood vs. Arkport dual meet with a few individuals. We do not have a dual meet this week, soI received permission to bring a van load over tomorrow. BUT the weather does not look good. With a high in the 50s, possible rain and high winds, we are better off practicing at school.

LEROY INVITATIONAL: We leave at 2pm on Friday. This is a principal approved absence. If you are a 'top 3' person in your event, you will be going. I will have a list of who is doing what by Wednesday at practice.

DANSVILLE INVITATIONAL

BUS LEAVES: 7:15AM

WEATHER: Chance of scattered thunder storms the entire time we are at the meet.

25 APRIL 2008

LAST NIGHT: A great effort by all. We once again lost a meet that we should have one--this time due to injuries and an 'incident'. there were an awful lot of GOOD things happening at the meet. Some great pefromances were tuned in.

SPRINTERS: I noticed our sprinters were 'on task' the entire evening, and it showed in your performance. The 400m relay ran its fastest time of the year--with its fastest person missing. That was impressive.Allison Vargeson broke '30' in the 200.

DISTANCE: A couple of great runs in the 3000m by Kayla Keeney and Allison Hynes. Both ladies qualified for Sectionals. the 3200m relay was outstanding.

PRACTICE: We will meet at the track today. Sprinters will work with Mr. Thompson on blocks at 3pm today. Meet by the 3-dooor entrance. We will then head over to the track to work on handoffs.

24 APRIL 2008

MEET: Our meet today is at Canisteo-Greenwood. Alfred-Almond will also be there. the meet will begin at 4:30pm.

REMINDER: The two thing I will be looking for are; a proper warm up, and staying in the shade when not participating.

HYDRATION: Please remeber to properly hydrate (that means drink water) ourselves during the school day.

23 APRIL 2008

HAMMONDSPORT: We lost the meet last night, but certainly not for lack of effort. We had some key absenses, illnesses, and injuries. With a full and 'healthy' squad we win easy. So it goes. the final score was 80.5-50.5

SPRINTERS: NOBODY showed up to the start of the 200m sprint. That was VERY embarassing for me as a coach. Please do not use the excuse that you do not know the order of events--that has nothing to do with it. We were caught lounging around, screwing around, and not paying attention to the meet. It is impossible to run your best without a proper warm up.

HEAT: Another bonehead move on our part was laying around in the sun the entire meet. In the future, we will find shade. Find shade, or leave the team. this was another reason for some of us not improving our times from before spring break.

Tuesday, April 22, 2008

22 APRIL 2008

MEET TODAY: We travel to Hammondsport today aboard two busses--boys bus and a girls bus. The meet begins at 4:30pm. The girls bus will be stopping to eat after the meet. Those of you wishing not to stop may ride the boys bus home--up to a limit of ten girls.

REMINDER: Please quit the team BEFORE the team picture. I don't know when the picture is, but i will let you know as soon as I know. Also, if you cannot make it to track at least four days a week, it is time to leave the team. No hard feelings...it's just time to go.

20 APRIL 2008

BATAVIA: A very strong showing by our young squad. Emily Geesaman finished very well in the pentathlon. We are still waiting for official results to be posted on line by the meet director. Emily survived the heat and some tough competition during her five events. Autumn White and Allison Hynes did exceptionally well in the 'developmental' steeplechase. The girls would like to thank Carey Crooker for attending the meet and cheering them on--even though she wasn't participating.

THIS WEEK IN TRACK: We have a busy week ahead of us:
  • TUESDAY at HAMMONDSPORT 4:30pm
  • THURSDAY at CANISTEO-GREENWOOD w/A-A 4:30pm
  • SATURDAY at FABIAN INVITATIONAL (Dansville NY)...I will be taking 8 individuals to this meet. Campbell-Savona cancelled their relay meet this year, so I had to scramble to find us something. The Dansville coach was nice enough to let us bring 8. The bus will leave at 7:15am.
QUIT THE TEAM: Please, pretty please...with sugar on top. Quit the team BEFORE the team picture. I grow oh so very weary of people who quit, uh, like--uh, the day after the team picture. Please quit BEFORE the team picture. Thanks.

18 APRIL 2008

BATAVIA MEET: We will leave at 7:15am. Bring some cornbread ($), as we will be stopping to eat on the way home. I have no idea what time we will be returning. We have one girl doing the pentathlon, which is five events, which will make our stay a bit longer.

DISAPPEARING ACT: Some team members pulled a disappearing act this break. I haven't heard from you and you haven't been at practice. It's like your magic...you disappeared. I have paid for a meet--it is on the schedule, and you have backed out on me. Not happy.

Wednesday, April 16, 2008

17 APRIL 2008

PRACTICE: Back at the track tomorrow. We will be working on our events.

PENTATHLON: Let me know if you are interested in going to Batavia for a pentathlon or steeplechase on Saturday.

Sarah--Mary...are you there, uh, hello--anyone? Bueler?

16 APRIL 2008

PRACTICE: We will be at the track again tomorrow. Weather tomorrow will be even nicer. Although it will still be a tad chilly in the morning. Where have the seniors on our team gone? Kayla Keeney is the only one showing up to practice. Where is Sarah Sullivan? Where is Mary hunt. We have a pentathlon meet coming up on Saturday, and I have not heard a peep from either of them.

THANK YOU: A big thank you to all of you showing up to practice this week. Also, thanks to your parents for getting you to practice.

SATURDAY: Saturday's meet is just for fun. The events we have to choose from include; The steeplechase, the pentathlon, and the race walk. Here is a link to the informational form concerning the meet: http://webapps.monroe.edu/~mcq/svtrk/sv-2008/meet-info/Batavia_Pent-Steeple-RW_Invite.pdf

15 APRIL 2008

TAXES: I got 'em done.

PRACTICE: We will meet at the track on TUESDAY. The weather will be in the low 40s with less wind than Monday. Please dress in layers, you can always remove clothing as you warm up. Thank you for your help picking up after the 'worthless dirt ball vandals'. I'm sorry, did I say that out loud...I thought I just thunk it.

Sunday, April 13, 2008

14 APRIL 2008

MONDAY PRACTICE: We will meet at the school Monday morning. Practice will begin at 9:30am and run until 11am (or sooner if we finish what we need to do). The temperature will be in the mid 30s at 9am. If you are distance and want to run outside...dress appropriately. If you bring a suit--I can throw you in the water for a while at the end of practice.

CONTACT: Remember, I can always be reached through e-mail (tlyons@addisoncsd.org), home phone (359-3824), and via a comment on this site. No excuses.

Smell you later.

11 APRIL 2008

PRACTICE: We have the gym today. Depending on the weather--we may be in the gym or at the track--or both.

ARKPORT: From what limited information I have, it sounds like some tremendous performances were notched.

TRIVIA: The first female cross country runner to qualify for States was Jennifer Balch. She quaified in 1992 as a freshman. The State Meet was held on Long Island that year (Sunken Meadow State Park).

VICTOR: The victor Spring Break Meet (pentathlon) has been cancelled.

Thursday, April 10, 2008

10 APRIL 2008

ARKPORT: Good luck to the girls going to Arkport. Please remember to write down your performances in Mr. Palko's notebook.

PRACTICE: I will be at practice at 3pm. We will meet in the hallway and then head to the track. We may be going on a bear hunt.

SPRING BREAK PRACTICE: Those of you who can make it, we will practice at 9:30am-11am Monday-Thursday. We will meet at the track. If the weather is COLD, we will meet at the school. Look to this website for updates. If you need a day or two off, take a day or two off.

BOYCOTT: We seem to have a few people on the team who refuse to look at the web site that I take the time to update daily. For the life of me, I cannot fathom a reason why a student-athlete would refuse to look at the site. This boycott seems to have started with the senior class. Wait, I have an idea--leave the team, hand in your uniform. Some of you may honestly not have the internet at home, I understand--but 99% of us do. We can also check the site at school. ALL IMPORTANT INFOMRATION WILL BE POSTED ON THIS SITE. This is the only way I can effectively get in touch with everyone at once. So, check the site or leave the team. I need everyone on the bus--get on or get off, time to make up your mind.

9 APRIL 2008

TODAY: I was up ALL night with Sarah, literally. Mrs. Lyons has joined the sick list. I will be home again today.

PRACTICE: I will try to make it to practice. Listen to the PM announcement to see if practice is canceled. Again, I will try to make it to practice.

JT: Great meet last night. remember, that was our first time on a track. That was our first time trying the 'real' events. We are ahead of schedule compared to previous years.

Check back in for more news later--we may have a bus issue for tomorrow's meet. As of now there is one bus and one small van going. That will not get 57 passengers to Arkport. Stay tuned for all of the latest news.

Monday, April 7, 2008

8 APRIL 2008

ABSENT: I was up a good chunk of the night with Sarah. She has caught the bug that John had. John and Brenna were both sent home from school yesterday. SO--I need to stay home with the kids today and clean up all kinds of messes. Oh, and Mrs. Lyons also has an appointment today. Lets hope Anna stays virus free.

MEET: The meet is still on. I will be at school around 2:30pm. I will check this site frequently today. If you need to conatct me, leave a comment. I can also be reached at home 359-3824--DO NOT USE YOUR CELL PHONES TO CALL ME.

BUS TRIPS: We have two busses for tomorrow. The girls will ride the girls bus and the boys will ride the boys bus. This is a directive from above and is non-negotiable. If there is overcrowding on the girls bus, Mr. Palko and I will decide who will ride with the boys.

7 APRIL 2008

UNIFORMS: We will be handing out uniforms today during practice. Anyone want to help organize them during PM homebase? Let me know.

PLAY: The Drama club put on an excellent show this weekend. I saw the Saturday night performance--excellent.

MEET: We run at JT tomorrow. We will sign up for events at practice today. Due to limited bus space, those of you who do not have enough practices will not be going to the meet. Tomorrow is suppossed to be in the 60s, sounds warm , doesn't it? BUT when the sun goes down--it GETS COLD. Be prepared with a sweatshirt and sweat pants. Please don't be one of our famous 'shivering idiots'. I am bringing a winter hat and gloves.

MIDDLE SCHOOL: I do not know if JT has any middle school athletes. You will probably run your events before the varstiy meet begins.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY: John Lyons Emily Jones

NO PRACTICE TOMORROW: Take some time to relax before we start our meet schedule. If an athlete would like to work on an event, I will show up at practice to help--just let me know.

Thursday, April 3, 2008
